City set to start resurfacing work on key Milnerton roads

The City of Cape Town’s Urban Mobility Directorate is set to begin road resurfacing work in Milnerton along Marine Drive/R27 between Lagoon Beach Drive and Broad Road, as well as along Koeberg Road between Boundary Road and Knysna Road. The work is scheduled to start on Wednesday, 23 September 2026, with visible work getting under way from Wednesday, 30 September 2026. The works will continue until Thursday, 5 November 2026, and will be undertaken between 19:00 and 05:30, Sundays to Fridays, including public holidays.

‘This important project forms part of the City’s regular road maintenance programme and will improve the condition of these important routes, providing road users with a smoother travelling surface and helping us to keep Cape Town moving.
‘The project will cover approximately 3,4 km and will include milling and replacing sections of the existing road surface, selected repairs to the road base, replacement of missing or damaged kerbs and the reinstatement of retro-reflective road markings following the resurfacing,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility, Councillor Rob Quintas.
Location of the project
- Marine Drive/R27: between Lagoon Beach Drive and Loxton Road, and between Loxton Road and Broad Road, Milnerton.
- Koeberg Road: between Boundary Road and Knysna Road, Milnerton.
To minimise the impact on traffic, the contractor will work one lane at a time.
‘I am also pleased that this project will provide temporary work opportunities for approximately five local jobseekers registered on the City’s local jobseekers database. This means that, while we improve our roads, we can also provide practical opportunities for people in our communities,’ added Councillor Quintas.
Residents, businesses and road users can expect some noise and temporary traffic disruptions during construction and are advised to approach the work areas with caution and allow for possible delays.
