Postponed: Public Information Day on proposed time-restricted one-way system along Zinnia Road in Silvertown

The Public Information Day on a proposal to introduce a time-restricted one-way system along Zinnia Road, between Lower Klipfontein Road and Durant Road in Silvertown, has been postponed due to safety concerns. The information day was scheduled to take place today, 26 August 2026, at Silverlea Primary School on Zinnia Road in Silvertown, Athlone. The public participation period opened on Tuesday, 11 August 2026, and was initially scheduled to run until Friday, 11 September 2026. This period will be extended to Friday, 25 September 2026. A new date for the Public Information Day will be communicated in due course.

‘The proposal for a time-restricted one-way system in Silvertown is designed to improve traffic flow, enhance safety and create a more organised road environment around Silverlea Primary School. A public information day is a vitally important cog in the public participation process and due to the recent gang incident, the City feels it would not be safe to convene a gathering amid these ongoing activities. In the meantime, we encourage residents to  submit comments, insights or feedback online or via the various below listed options,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility, Councillor Rob Quintas.

The proposal includes:

• A time-restricted one-way along Zinnia Road from Lower Klipfontein Road towards Durant Road in Silvertown.
