Road resurfacing commences in Heideveld, Vanguard and Welcome Estate

The City of Cape Town’s Urban Mobility Directorate will commence road resurfacing works across Heideveld, Vanguard and Welcome Estate as part of its ongoing programme to maintain and extend the lifespan of the city’s road network. The work is planned to take place from this week until Tuesday, 15 December 2026, between 08:30 and 15:30, Monday to Friday, weather permitting.
‘The roadworks planned for Heideveld; Vanguard and Welcome Estate will see approximately 3,7km of roads resurfaced, improving road safety conditions and riding quality for our residents and road users in these areas. These maintenance projects forms part of how we keep Cape Town moving over the long term,’said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility, Councillor Rob Quintas.
Road resurfacing will take place along the following roads:
Heideveld
- Heideveld Road
Vanguard
- 4th Avenue
- Graniet Road
- Doman Road
- Reef Road
- Erts Road
- Aarde Street
- Ferrous Street
- 2nd Avenue
- 3rd Avenue
- 1st Avenue
Welcome Estate
- Burggraaf Road
- 3rd Street
- 4th Street
- 2nd Street
Residents can expect some traffic disruptions during construction as roads may be closed in half or full widths depending on the nature of the work, with stop-and-go traffic accommodation used to facilitate traffic flow. All roads will be open to traffic outside of working hours. Traffic moving in both directions may be affected.
