Roadworks under way in suburbs across Blaauwberg district

The City of Cape Town’s Urban Mobility Directorate has started the resurfacing of various roads in Rugby, Brooklyn, Milnerton, Summer Greens, Mamre, Protea Park, Melkbosstrand and Marconi Beam. The work takes place between 08:00 and 17:00, Monday to Saturday. The roadworks are scheduled to continue until Saturday, 14 November 2026, weather permitting and provided there are no unforeseen delays. Maps: https://bit.ly/4yHPa5l
‘Regular road maintenance is necessary to keep our roads in good condition, extend their lifespan and, importantly, to keep Cape Town moving. We know that roadworks can cause some disruption to residents and road users, and we appreciate everyone’s patience and cooperation while our teams undertake this necessary work. We ask motorists to plan ahead, allow additional travel time where necessary and take care when travelling through work areas,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility, Councillor Rob Quintas.
The road resurfacing work is being carried out on the following roads:
- Rugby: Narwhal Street, Egret Street, Chamois Street and Palmetto Street
- Brooklyn: Kings Road, Wren Street, Alwin Street, Kalmah Street, Corah Street, Van der Stel Avenue and Fenwick Street
- Milnerton: Langerman Avenue, Graaff Avenue and Norwood Road
- Summer Greens: Summer Greens Drive and the slip lane off Bosmansdam Road
- Mamre: Louwskloof Road
- Protea Park, Wesfleur: Acacia Crescent and Aster Crescent
- Melkbosstrand: Beach Road and 6th Avenue
- Marconi Beam: Omuramba Road, from the Racecourse Road intersection to Bosmansdam Road
Additional night work is scheduled in Melkbosstrand and Marconi Beam, between 19:30 and 05:30.
Residents and road users are advised to plan for possible delays and to exercise caution when travelling through the affected areas.
The City apologises for any inconvenience caused and thanks residents and road users for their patience and cooperation while the maintenance work is under way.
