Comment on the proposed time-restricted one-way road conversion of Zinnia Road in Silvertown, Athlone

11 August 2026

We plan to convert Zinnia Road in Silvertown into a time-restricted one-way road, and we want to hear from you.

About

The proposed introduction of a time-restricted one-way system along Zinnia Road, between Lower Klipfontein Road and Durant Road in Silvertown aims to:

  • improve traffic flow,
  • enhance safety, and
  • create a more organised road environment around Silverlea Primary School, where there are many vulnerable road users during busy drop-off and pick-up times.

The proposal includes:

  • A time-restricted one-way along Zinnia Road, from Lower Klipfontein Road towards Durant Road during busy drop-off (07:00 – 08:00) and pick-up (12:30-15:00) times from Monday to Friday.

By participating in this process, your insights and feedback can help shape a safer, more efficient road for everyone.

In terms of Section 17 of the Local Government: Municipal Systems Act, Act 32 of 2000, you can submit comments to the municipality in respect of the proposed road conversion.
