City proposes one-way system for various roads in Sun Valley
17 August 2026
The City of Cape Town’s Urban Mobility Directorate invites all residents to comment on a proposal to introduce a time-restricted one-way system around Sun Valley Primary School from Coracle Street towards Brigantine Avenue. Residents have until 17 September 2026 to submit comments on this proposal which has been designed to improve traffic flow, enhance safety and create a more organised road environment around Sun Valley Primary School and to keep Cape Town moving.
The proposal includes implementing a time-restricted one-way along Coracle Street, Barque Crescent, Schooner Road and Brigantine Avenue.
The City will be hosting an information session next Thursday, 27 August 2026 from 12:00 - 15:00 at Sun Valley Primary School where residents will be able to speak directly to the responsible officials should they have any questions.
‘One-way road conversions close to Sun Valley Primary will enhance pedestrian safety, alleviate congestion during peak periods and create more organised road environments in this vicinity. Schools have a higher number of vulnerable road users during morning drop-offs and afternoon pick-ups and are therefore always key priority areas with regards to our traffic calming planning. I encourage you to view the proposal and map and submit any comment or input you may have,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility, Councillor Rob Quintas.
